A brief description about COPE - Cambridgeshire Older People's Enterprise

Our strength is in our numbers

Speaking up for our age. To promote and activate the interests and well being of people aged 50 or over

A Forum planning for the future for and by persons aged 50 and over

COPE, a registered charity, fulfils various important health related functions for the over 50's, which include social contact, friendship support and provides information via a monthly newsletter, which can be viewed on our website.

The picture below shows members at a COPE meeting in St Ives, listening to Daryl Brown, CEO of Magpas, speaking on Surviving Major Trauma. Daryl will update us on this subject at our Health & Social Care Forum in Cambridge on July 16th.

COPE (Cambridgeshire Older People's Enterprise) will be holding an event on Armed Forces Day on Saturday June 30th at St Leonard's Church, Leverington at 3 p.m. John Marham, the Community Psychiatric Nurse for the Anglia region of the Combat Stress Outreach Team will be the keynote speaker. COPE has organised a coach to collect people from Cambridge, Ely and Chatteris. Only £5 per person to include a performance by the Hilgay Silver Band and refreshments. Proceeds to "Combat Stress" and the Church Restoration Fund. Please contact Peter Pryke on 01945 466915 or Rhona Boorman on 01223 301497 or COPE on 01223 364303."

New to COPE and starting on Thursday July 12 - free Tai Chi sessions at St Luke's Community Centre in Cambridge. Donations welcome towards our tutor's valuable time. According to scientists, practising the ancient martial art of Tai Chi is so beneficial that it should be the preferred technique for elderly people to maintain good health. Focusing the mind solely on the movements helps to bring about a state of mental calm and it lowers blood pressure.
