Description of Free Church Passage at

Free Church Passage, St Ives,

More information about the organisation that manages this location

Medieval towns and villages were full of narrow little alleyways and St Ives still retains many of them such as this example; the Free Church Passage. As its name suggests it runs north to south from the Free Church in Market Hill, the town centre of St Ives, down to the town Quay on the River Great Ouse.

Once used as shortcut to bring goods up from the riverside into the market place it is now home to a number of shops and offices and a shortcut for pedestrians who want to take time out from shopping with a few minutes by the river.
